Hey guys, having a bit of trouble, and was wondering if you could help me out.

---

You have been exployed by a computer shop to set up a new computer room for an IT training company. The room is to contain 15 computers each with 17 inch CRT screens. The room is to be networked to an existing file server. The computers are to have a recent operating system and the latest word processing, database, spreadsheet and graphics programs installed. Compose a business letter addressed to the training company that explains the following issues:

- OH&S regarding the installation of hardware and software
- Installation options and software registration
- Hardware and software required to network the computers
- File server software compatibilit and version conflicts with the new room
- Future upgrade requirements

The name of the company that you are addressing the business letter to is "ACE Training". Address the letter to "The Manager". The computer shop that has hired you is called "Digital Computers".

---

Appreciate any help you can give me guys.
Thanks.

Apparently there is some sort of “security period” on the trials; if this question is from your trial you may want to think about asking it later, otherwise this thread may be deleted, or at best locked.

Alright the great thing about a letter is that there is a little bit of leniancy in terms of how to structure your text, letters can lean towards report but you have to have that 1st person POV when writing it, if you can manage to juggle this then you can compose a half-decent letter.

You have been exployed by a computer shop to set up a new computer room for an IT training company. The room is to contain 15 computers each with 17 inch CRT screens. The room is to be networked to an existing file server. The computers are to have a recent operating system and the latest word processing, database, spreadsheet and graphics programs installed. Reason they say this in bold is because its a hint of OH&S, many factors you should consider and expand upon;
- OH&S regarding the installation of hardware and software
- Lifting the monitor (talk about how CRT are heavy)
- Radiation given off by CRT (debateable)
- Glare
- Positioning of the CRT (you know, must be arms length away, within 45 degree angle view etc..)
- Resolution (not too high)
- When installing any electrical equipment make sure that the power in the wall is off when putting all power in (including plugging up the monitor)
- Positioning not only of the CRT, but on desks and tables, you can really rant about the correct ergonomic procedures

- Installation options and software registration
This one is a shitcake easy one, just talk about registering and its benefits, and how to register and send it off

- Hardware and software required to network the computers
- Network card/Windows XP automatically configures networks and you can optionally assign IP addresses

- File server software compatibility and version conflicts with the new room
Not sure what you could bitch about here, I know from memory Windows 2000/NT servers and Windows XP clients tend to have issues on loading so you could just discuss the need for Windows 2003 server and Windows XP on the clients, or possibly if you don't wish to go that indepth, that 'patches' and 'updates' are available to solve all version conflicts (read your book in terms of how your teacher expects you t odeal with it, thats how I deal with it in real life)

- Future upgrade requirements
Talk about what magic you could do to the hardware/software, if you feel you wanted to add extra degree of knowledge (impress markers) you can sound smart by saying upcoming 64bit processing units, additional RAM and Windows 'Longhorn' are promising devices that should assist Ace Training in maintaining a high quality, high realiable and high speed computers"

The name of the company that you are addressing the business letter to is "ACE Training". Address the letter to "The Manager". The computer shop that has hired you is called "Digital Computers".
^ just address it to that particular person/random, ensure you occasionaly slip in "Ace training" and address the company the letter is going to

remember letters are formal means, you are directing to a manager, dont think of this as an assessment mark, seriously imagine you're just an IT worker writing this to your "manager", so dont go "Hey Dawg! there is some shit thats whacking these computers up!" you need to address him appropriatley... Good luck with it!

btw; I dont think HSC would launch something like this at you, it looks like a very indepth question, probably because if HSC asks you any one of those you'd know what to do

good luck ;D
