Our bio class has to design an experiment to show how changing one of the substances needed for fermentation, affects the product produced. The method needs to show a control, the variable you are testing and how you would control all other variables.

If anyone could give me some tips or ideas for this it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

You have to know what components of fermentation are involved. e.g. yeast, water, the substrates. The main types of fermentation are alcoholic fermentation and lactic acid fermentation, each with different end product produced.

You control is simply following the original fermentative pathway. Whereas your experiment to find out the effect of a particular substrate has ONE variable. e.g change in the concentration of the catalyst.
