THE body of teenage ice skater Morgan Innes was found in Sydney Harbour today, five days after the collision between a boat and ferry which claimed three other lives.
The 14-year-old Queensland girl disappeared last Wednesday night when a HarbourCat ferry and a private wooden motor cruiser collided beneath the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Her body was found about 150m east of the Sydney Harbour Bridge about 1.45pm (AEST) today.
It followed a report from crew on board a Waterways Authority vessel, the New South Wales Police Force said.
The body was taken to Glebe morgue for formal identification and a post-mortem.
Morgan was one of a dozen members of Australia's ice skating community on board the 10-metre motor cruiser on a sightseeing tour of the harbour when the vessel collided with the ferry.
Others killed in the accident were NSW Ice Skating Association (NSW ISA) president Alan Blinn, 47, NSW ISA member Simone Moore, 44, and a work associate of Dr Blinn's, a 45-year-old Frenchs Forest man known only as Jamie.
Eight others were injured, including Olympian Liz Cain, who lost part of a leg.
The NSW Police Force Marine Area Command, PolAir, and other organisations carried out an exhaustive search for Morgan at the weekend.
Her father Robert Innes said his daughter was articulate, mature and had a great sense of humour.
He said yesterday: "She is a very competitive, very successful athlete and a wonderful daughter and sister, and we miss her passionately and have always been very proud of her."
Mr Innes said he, his wife Kim and son Curtis were also trying to deal with the death and injury suffered by a number of very, close friends, many of whom they regarded as family.
"Some of these very well loved people have died and some have been terribly injured and, like their other family members, we are trying to deal with this grief on top of not finding Morgan."
