A lot of theory, a lot to remember? A lot of essays to write? I chose the course because I am interested in law and crime, I'm in Yr 10 and I can do some of the questions on the HSC papers already, so it is a good sign, isn't it?

There's a lot of theory and a lot to remember - especially cases, legislation and the like. You'll probably find the theory easy enough to understand, it's just that the cases and legislation will make or break a good mark or not. So you can do some of the questions now, but you're not gonna go very well because you have to quote and make reference to lots of cases and legislation.

Well the HSC papers requires you to relate to case studies, laws, acts etc

The course is ALOT of theory and legal concepts. It is fairly large and alot to remember.

Though the final exam format helps in some way. You know multiple choice is just Law and Society and then a short answer thing - so don't stock up on cases and law there as you have two questions max where you can use them.

Your option topics is where you require the most cases and law, because that's where you'll be writing essays.

Wrong, the whole syllabus has changed. Currently there is no currently Past HSC legal studies exam, as my year will be the first to do it

No, you're wrong.

If you look at the specimen paper - you'll find that the exam format is pretty much the same, except that Multiple Choice now has a few crime questions and the like - and each section has a small portion of extended responses. So there is still the dedicated Law and Society part, there is still the dedicated Crime part and there is still the dedicated Options parts.

EDIT: So my points about not stocking up so much for Law and Society still stand and the like.

I know there is always a options part, i was saying the content has change.

Back to the topic, legal is good, but there is a large amount to learn
