Is there a future with the Defence Force in regards to forensic sciences?

and if so, are there prospects overseas?

Forensic Science

Hi Lily

Careers in Forensic Science are related to investigations run by the civlian police. Although Forensic Science and its functions do not form part of the role of Defence Force we do have opportunities in military police style roles - such as Security Police and Military working dog handlers in the RAAF, Military police in the Army and Naval Coxswains in the Navy. These careers are similar to civilian police and do include investigative aspects which may rely on civilian forensic scientists to assist in their investigations.

If the Defence Force requires the expertise of a Forensic Scientist, this function will most likely be sought from a civilian provider and it is anticipated that this current arrangement will continue.

If you are interested in a career that has an investigative aspect we have plenty of other jobs that require good analytical skills. If you would like to know more check out our website defencejobs.gov.au or call 13 19 01. I suggest you book yourself to a "JOES" day where you find out all of your career options.
