Describe a test that could be performed to distinguish between calcium carbonate and benzoic acid

u can distinguish them by observing the reaction they hav w/ other stuff..

like-
add acid and do the lit splint thing to see if there is carbon dioxide gas?

if there is then it is carbonate, and then do the benzoic acid through elimination.

not sure if that is right though.
