that just shows your connection is so deeply psychological that you have forgotten the physical part.

maybe you and your boyfriend just need something "new", three-years with the same person is quite a long time for someone your age. you both know how well you connect with each other and how well you get along, but at the same time you're craving for a new face (or body). it might be because of your memories from 3-years of being together that's haunting you and preventing you from a "clean" break-up. of course you would still have feelings for each other - how could you not? but this is probably the first step into being just friends.
