This might sound weird to a lot of you, since text-based browser games aren't so popular nowadays and people play things like FPS and RP games.
Basically what furry-paws is, it's a game where you raise, train, show, and breed your "virtual dogs". If you're interested in genetics, you can aim to breed for genetic traits such as colours, litter sizes, stat boosts, and physical quality of the dog (eye sight, etc).
Furry-paws is text based, meaning it's just pictures and words, no animation. It's real time based, meaning that a "day" = 24 real life hours (based on their timezone).
There's also an art community (on the forums) where you can sell your art for virtual or real currency.

I've been playing Furry-paws since 2008 I think so around 5 years or something. It might seem like a kids game but it's much more fun and complex once you get into the genetics part. And the main aim is to make your dogs ranked the best in the game. There are many dog lovers on the forum too so you can get great advice from experienced owners.
