Hi

So, this galvanic cell is between Zn electrode (anode) and Cu electrode (cathode),each one of them is emerged in 1 M Zn nitrate and 1 M Cu nitrate
1. I've got 669 millivolt for this cell. In theory,it is supposed to have 1.10 volt. Why was the voltage so low?
2. What was the observation for this prac?Any physical change or anything happen when the redox reaction occurs? did this prac 2 months ago and unfortunately I did not write any observation. I remember that the Zn electrode produced effervescence. That's all? Should the copper produce copper oxide or something?

Thank you bob

I forgot to mention that I recorded the voltage not immediately after the electrodes were being submerged so it's already going down,so it's probably around 800-900 millivolt
It's 0.8-0.9 volt.

Anyway,thanks bob
