Q1 If a piece of steel wool, which is mainly iron, is placed in a solution of Copper (II) sulcate, a displacement reaction takes place.

a. Describe and explain any observable changes that would occur as this reaction proceeds.

b. Write the oxidation and reduction half equations for this reaction

c. Write the net ionic equation for the overall reaction.

Sup man, dont panic! :)
a) look on your activity series, observe which metal is higher up on the list of reduction potentials. Check the voltage of that reaction and reverse the sign (Since its higher up, it will be oxidised, thus the reaction on the "reduction potentials" list is reversed, so the reverse potential is generated. The specific reaction between iron and copper sulfate idk what it looks like, you can research that./

b)
The higher metal on the reduction potentials list goes like this
eg
Zn--> Zn^2+ + 2e-

The lower metal goes the other way. eg
Cu^2+(aq) +2e- --> Cu(s)

The net ionic equation is something like

Zn(s) + Cu^2+(aq)--> Zn^2+(aq) + Cu(s)

because you dont write the electrons.
