Ok when it comes to video cards, I know barely anything except that more MB (may) equal better card but apart from that nothing. So I want to buy one of these 6800 however my cousin told me he could get one for $700 which now I'm assuming is a ripoff. So can anyone tell me any good alternatives or a place to get the 6800 really cheaply?

I'm not sure where is the best place to shop persay, but for a 256mb 6800, that's not a bad price. Both I-Tech and It-rite put the 128mb card at $495, and the 256mb card at around $700.

The vanilla 6800 is in what seems to be a useless position right now. Either go for a 6600GT for $300-$400 or go for a 6800GT.

Also, I have yet to see any benefit from going for a 256mb card. It is true that sometime in the distant future such amount of memory may be usefull on a few games, but by that time most would have upgraded again anyway.

nah if your going to get such a high end card the memory is important since you will be running at high resolutions with AA and AF turned on.
