could someone please clarify for me what exactly is the difference between gene cloning and recombinant dna technologies in terms of the production of insulin.

Recombinant DNA technology is a form of biotechnology that genetically modifies genes. This is often done through bacterial plasmids. In the case of insulin we use recombinant DNA technology to insert the insulin gene into the plasmid. Then we use gene cloning to clone the insulin gene. Producing lots of insulin for patients with diabetes.
