if my answer deviates from (or is shorter/longer than) the suggested response/sample answers for a past paper (biology specifically), but it makes sense and i think that is should be correct, do I still got the mark???

i mean yes you definitely can get the mark, it definitely does not have the be the same as the suggested response if it makes sense. i would check with your teacher tho if it is completely different just to make sure.

Yep - I don't think you'll get docked marks. There usually is a set marking criteria for short/long response questions in the HSC and if you add extra information (which could be wrong) you wouldn't lose nor receive extra marks.

That said, for maths subjects, if you write like two different answers for one question, the HSC marker will usually read the one they see first (and only look at that method - which risks getting your marks docked if that is your wrong answer.). For short/long answer questions in bio, chem etc it should be fine tho.
