Has anyone read the novel?
I saw the movie, and the novel was way better than the movie

I love this book. I'm actually about to start reading another one of Tracy Chevalier's novels called Falling Angels[/].

But about GWAPE, I thought it was such a sad novel, I had tears in my eyes at the end. Of course, watching Colin as Vermeer was quite fun and Cillian Murphy as Peiter (sp?) was great as well, but nothing ever beats the novel.

i havent seen the movie but i have read the novel. i loved it - deceptively simplistic premise.

haven't seen the movie (yet), but i've read the book and i must say, even though the language was overall simple, the book still had depth

Actually, you're right astro. That's what surpised me as well. I was expecting some heavy literature, but it was quite an easy read.

i think the simple language helped create authenticity for the piece - her character, experiences etc. and it was so reserved, perfect for the time period and suiting vermeer's paintings.
