i found out about this orientation camp when i went to macquarie uni today...

its from 25th-27th feb and theres a whole lot of social activities involved- including ice skating and dances...and u sleep over at the campus!

For only $132 for 3 days and 2 nights, i reckon it sounds pretty good!!

anyone else thinking of going???? :)

exactly

its a good idea

but its hard if u go in and know literally no one

it will be lot more better if they have the camp a few wks after the uni commences or during the first holiday..

It sounds alright. But here's the thing which sort of made me decide not to go last year - you're friends are probably those who do the same course (and units) as you, and chances are most of the people you will meet won't.

On the hand, it's a good chance to just get to know people and the grounds, which will be handy when uni starts.

me and a bunch of friends planned to go last yr, then in the final week everyone decided to bail and do something else except this one guy. He said it was really really crap afterwards... but that's just what he thinks. I reckon it wouldve been fun..

I think the best way to enjoy o camp is go with someone you know. That way you aren't absolute nigel. Then along the way meet new people and form bigger group.

I made a few friends at orientation and since we don't do the same course, we wont see each other much. But occasionally we'd bump into each other in uni and have a small chat etc.

I made a few friends at orientation, but never talked to them since, cos they ended up in different circles.

Can you bring someone who's not going to macq to o-camp? I mean obviously they wouldn't allow it, but do they actually check whether everyone's enrolled at macq?
