i bought one, i like it how it can store several calculations and still work on the next, also has so many damn features, in my trial exam there was a 13 mark question allocated purely to statistics, i got 12/13 for it and i did it in a few minutes thanks too my graphics calculator, to answer your question, its perfect if you have the effort/time to grab the manual and figure out some really neat features like i have, if you cant be bothered get any ol' calculator, but its great especially for finding average, standard deviation on scores with or without frequency ;D

The Graphic Calculator has some serious advantages if you have the time to spend a small amount of time learning how to use it.

1. Financial Maths
Forget about the complicated formulae on the sheet. Your GC can spit out the answer really quickly ... and I mean really quickly.

2. Statistics
Think about standard deviation. Do you know the formula to work it out by hand? Of course not. You're expected to be able to use a calculator to get that value. Isn't it a hassle to have to enter all the scores into a calculator just to get the standard deviation. Of course it is. How about this. The GC gives you mean, standard deviation, median, mode, upper and lower quartiles and maximum and minimum all in one go! And also does a mean box-and-whisker plot!

These two areas are the ones where you simply MUST use a GC because life just becomes so easy.

There are also other handy features that can help (solving algebraic equations on the calculator, drawing scatterplots and coming up with lines of best fit automatically, etc) but they're just handy rather than vital.

And when a teacher says that your calculator gets reset at the start of the exam, it's only going to erase any computer programmes that might be in the memory. It doesn't take away all the cool functions.

Graphics calculator? Go for it! If you need some tips on what to do when you get one, let me know!

guys be very careful when they reset it when using trigonometry, it resets degree to radius and that really fucks up any trigonometric calcualtions, make sure when you're in the (1) window, Opt-> change to degree's not radius when they reset it!

Yes. That's the only thing you need to worry about when the calculators are reset.

As soon as it's been done, go back to the main menu.
Then go into the RUN mode - press [1] or select RUN then press [EXE].
Then [SHIFT] [SET UP] (above the MENU key)
Then scroll down and change "Rad" to "Deg"
Then press [EXIT] ... and you're ready to go!

The only other pain that I can think of is trying to find the "bubble" button or the Degrees/Minutes/Second button to convert a decimal answer to degrees, minutes and second.
When you're in the normal RUN mode, just press [OPTN] [F6] [F5] and then [F5], and this will do the trick.

If you have to enter angles as degrees and minutes, then it's almost the same.
Press [OPTN] [F6] [F5] then [F4] for the degree, minute or second symbol.

Can you take it back and get a refund?

I know a fair bit about the Casio, but I haven't even seen one of those other ones.

Sorry. Can't help.
