This was a question in the 2006 CSSA. Question 10 b
Consider f(x) = e^-x(cos x)
i. find sp/nature
ii. graph showing intercepts
iii. find the number of soln to the eqn. e^-x (cos x) -x/2 = 0
Ok, i graphed it. (also checked it on graphmatica) - now that's not my problem.
i know e^-x (cos x) -x/2 = 0 is comprised of 2 parts: where the original f(x) intercepts with the line y=x/2
Of course you're not gonna be dead set accurate in manually graphing, so what tips are there to find out the number of intercepts!
