Silver nitrate is soluble, silver carbonate is soluble, silver sulfate is sparingly soluble and silver chloride is insoluble

This is not a good question.

Silver carbonate has a Ksp of 10-12, so it isn't soluble.

Usually precipitating silver chloride is a good strategy but an ammonium salt (weak acid) will add ammonia molecules to the system, and the equilibrium constant for the formation of [Ag(NH3)2]+ is about 107.

(B) and (C) are clearly inappropriate and given barium carbonate is also insoluble, the best answer is (A), but the situation is not clear-cut. Choosing a chloride like NaCl would be way more appropriate.

oh wait I just assumed it wasn’t without checking because that would make the answer weird, huh
