Can someone explain grey and white matter and the differences and what are they related too.

Well, the grey regions that appear on an MRI scan represent the white matter in the brain as it consists of less water than the grey matter which appears white on the scan.

So the grey matter in the brain consists of a higher percentage of water (thus hydrogen nuclei) than the white matter. what i do is flip the colours in my head: grey region---> white matter
white region---> grey matter
