Even if you don't listen in lectures, read the lecture notes, ask your friends if you don't understand, attempt the tute questions, do the past papers.

MATH1091, topics are smaller than discrete, much less depth, easier overall, half the contact time also.

To pass MATH1081, staple the odd $100 bill to your class tests :D
(Note, at your own risk, I take no responsiblity in your part to bribe a lecturer)

im waiting for 4th yr or later to do discrete
imo its pretty easy and will be a breeze relative to 4th year courses, would rather have a easy subject then to lessen the workload

Man just turn up to the tutorial and ask tutors to do questions.

Literally Math1090 is the same as Math1081 minus 'Graph' theory, which itself is essential in solving complex networking problems for example.

imo buying the Epp book gives you minimal help, like I read about 10 pages of it on top of the lecture notes last year.

Borrow the discrete textbook from the library. There's only some, but it really helps, especially if you're the timid type and are too afraid to ask from tutors.. let alone the lecturers.

Other than that, get the textbook and do the past paper, since they give worked solutions. It wasn't hard to get an HD with only 5 lectures attended, tons of people did that.

Study with friends. They tend to get things you don't and vice versa :)

Also set aside time each day you study to just do discrete past papers. ONLY do the questions for topics you've covered. Any ones you don't understand try to contact the lecturer (or post them up here) where people can explain them. After all, discrete is more about comprehending than actually doing the maths ..
