Hey guyz.
My car got written off over the easter long weekend (woo) but thankfully her insurance has finally started with payouts, so I'm getting another car and escaping from this public transport nightmare.
The car I'm looking at buying is in Victoria and has 11 months rego. Unluckily, if I want to register it in NSW, I can only roll around here for 3 months and then it needs to be converted. My biggest issue with that is that the custom plates will go from free to $120 per annum. Which is gay.
Since I have a Victorian residential address - it's not my primary address though - is there some kind of way I can seedily register the car to that address? I think that's going to be hard because a) it's meant to be the main garaging address and b) I have a NSW license, even though I learned to drive in Victoria.
Can you guys think of any cunning schemes that will let me keep the custom plates without yearly charge? Possibly involving renewing Victorian registration?
