Tomorrow I have an in-class assessment task in which we watch a scene from Hamlet (we don't know which scene it will be) and answer the following question. Please suggest some ways to go about this.

The character of Hamlet is one of complexity, made all the more powerful by the richness of Shakespeare's skill as a dramatist. How is the complexity of character and the dramatic richness highlighted in the excerpts you view and listen to?

Your discussion should include:

1. How dramatic techniques have been used to reveal the character of Hamlet.
2. Why he acts the way he does.
3. How he perceives the world and life.
4. How interpretations of his character have varied over time.

We have to prefer specifically to the scene, and to the play as a whole.
