hi

what are the penalties for handing in an assignment late? i read somewhere it was like 10% but i cant remember what the period was, i think it was 7 days or something?

can someone clarify?

err check with the lecturer in charge of that subject.

i've had some that range from 0 marks taken off to 10% every day taken off.

Depends on the subjects.

some are 20% off 1st day, then 5% every day after or something ridiculas!

Some gives you 0 for lateness. But then some does that just to scare you off.

Me friend, forgot his media task, and was really intent on handing it 1 day late. The tutor was being really really nice to him, telling him that if he hands it in that afternoon, he'll get no late penalty. But he just said "thanks", even after many insistance. Well, that's how light some late penalties are

Yeah they are usually quite leniant to first years'
However, it does vary from subject to subject. In one of my current subjects, the 25% assignment MUST be handed in on time or else its given 0 and you fail the course (must pass every assessment to pass)
