For example, say one is enrolled in B commerce atm. Whithin B comm however, there must be different electives which makes up 48 uoc all together for the year. And for each electives, there must be different marking scheme.

So when someone says " i maintained D average for this year in B comm", does it mean that the 'D average' is calculated from the average marks of the different electives u did for that specific year??

Yes, it is basically your average mark of the year.
