hay 2 questions i need resolved

hecs related - how long can u benefit from the hecs scheme> can u complete 1 course and begin another and still apply thru hecs- or does hecs only entitle u to 1 course?

preferences - ah ive been told mixed stories about this. but if u have ur list of preferences can u actually change them (not just the order). cause im pretty sure if u learn of another course and didnt initially have it on ur list u cant submit for that course- im 99% sure its wrong.....just checking

regarding your preferences question... yes you can change them completely, add new ones or delete old ones...
and you can also re- shuffle the order they are in...

the new reforms starting next year allow you to be supported by the govt. for 7 full time study years... i don't think you have to do only one course... but it has to be withing the 7 year time period. :)

the changes come into effect next year... so if ur in year 12 and you want to start uni next year, you can have a HECS place for up to 7 years...

Paraphrased from the UAC book:
- Register by Sept 30 to avoid all late fees - normal fee for Yr 12s is $16, $36 for others
- Up til Oct 29 is $82 late + normal fee
- Up til Nov 30 is $92 late + normal
- Up til Feb 4 is $102 late + normal <<<last possible date>>>

For change of prefs:
- All preferences can be changed until Jan 6 and be in the Main Round
- Jan 19-24 can be changed for Late Round
- Feb 2-4 can be changed for Final Round
- Most preferences can be changed as you like, within those dates. However, a few courses cannot be added after Sept 30, like UNSW Med.

So I think as long as you have at least one preference in by Sept 30, you can change them as much as you like (it's really easy to do on the net) until Jan 6, and only pay the normal fee.
Hope that helped.

except for adding some courses that have early closing dates, but you can still shuffle them around right?
