im really bad at recognising techniques in a poem/film/ any form of text. pun, simile and metaphor are like the only ones i can recognise and i cant even explain y the composer uses them. my teacher says im good at writing essays, but she cant award more than a C grade if im missing techniques. i would really appreciate if anyone has like a list of techniques that may come up and why a composer would use it.
eg: the composer uses the metaphor of a bird to symbolise freedom

any help would be GREATLY appreciative as i hav an assesment task on wednesday... thanks guys !

i cant really tell u that much but
onomatopeia to emphasise something
connotations of words affect the tone and way responder reacts to text
tone of the poem,
alliterration
end line rhyme scheme shows highly structured texts
ummmm.... thats as much as i can rremember for now, i have an assessment tomorrow and its not going to be good.........
good luck with yours though

You have to make sure that the techniques you are using are relevent to the module you are studying. When you are looking for textual evidence to support a particular point, ask yourself "How do I know this?". For example if you know that in a scene of a film, a character is depressed, ask yourself "How do I know that this character is depressed?" You may find the lack of lighting, low-pitched pleonastic music and sad facial expression of the character as the answers to that question, hence these are your techniques.

Here is a list of techniques: (Although some common ones have been left out)
