Hi all.

I'm in need of a little reassurance when it comes to the main part of the History Extension course (ie not the project, I'm on top of that). I mean, what is the course about? We're studying Tacitus, and are currently going through 'The Annals of Imperial Rome' and pointing out a few moments when Tacitus positions his reader to think a certain way.

Is that what the HSC exams will ask? Or is there more? Or am I not supposed to feel like I understand for a while yet?

What is going on?!?!?!

for the 1st module ' what is history' you look at the concept of historiography. thus you learn about how history is recorded, written, interrupted etc, through sources and readings.

for 2nd module- case study: this is where your class picks up a case study( eg. JFK) and looks at historical debates around it.

and both modules will be tested on. btw is Tacitus a historian or a case study? cause im not sure what you mean .. but its part of the what is history module then i think ur just learning about how Tacitus has altered history with his own perspective so that the readers will think what he thinks? not sure ..

Tacitus is our Case Study, I believe it is "Tacitean view of the Early Principate" or something.

Thanks for your help!
