Hi chooke. :)

3
/
| x1/2 dx = [2x3/2 / 3] from 2->3
/
2

=[2(sqrt3)3 - 4sqrt2] / 3

Since we are finding the definite integral, we don't need units, which are only used when specifically asked to find area/volume.

is it really we never had to do an assessment that was an inclass test assessment. Even in prelim we had a hand in assessment

I have never had take home assessment task for maths. I have had heaps for all my other subjects including sciences, economics and english, but maths... never had one for maths, it is ALWAYS a test of some sought done during school time. Consider yourself lucky. :)

We only get homework for maths i.e. questions that we don't finish in class, that's all, never mini assignment type things.

But I do recall in year 7, we were made to research on a great mathematician in maths, but I didn't do it, waste of time anyway :)

We will have a "take home" assessment for 2 unit, 3 unit, and 4 unit Maths next year. Basically, the questions are harder than usual, and we get to take them home for a week to work them out, collaboratively or by ourselves. Then we sit the assessment - same questions, but changed values. The focus is more on the process than the numbers themselves.

it's pretty unfair to do Qs on the assignment for her.

There's nothing stopping all the students from her year doing the same and getting help from elsewhere. Therefore you could say it's not unfair.
