or ideas for my english speech, thank you!
this is the question....

*imagine you are the composer of your set text. You have been asked to give a
speech to a group of year 12 students on the topic "Composers-conveying the message.

In your speech, outline the various techniques that you have used as a composer
to convey the message in your text to responders.Make sure you make specific reference to the text you have composed(ie the text you have studied in class)

There is no need to double post and please post in the correct section of the forum :)

This speech has got alot of things to look out for. Have a look for the following:
+Target audience: Who is the text aimed at? And how do we know this?
+Techniques used in your set text such as allegory, jargon, alliteration, exclamation, narrative etc. as this is really the only way in which composers can create meaning. I'm assuming its your AOS task, thus try to relate things to your focus journey (it would help if you posted it up, then i can give you a few examples)
+What the structure of a speech is: Know your conventions/techniques/style/format of a speech
+Remember to quote as evidence

the send off

here's my chosen speech...

the send off...
Down the close, darkening lanes they sang
their way to the siding shed,
and lined the train with faces grimly gay.
their breasts were stuck all white with
wreath and spray as men's are, dead.
dull porters watched them, and a casual tramp
stood staring hard,
sorry to miss them from the upland camo.
then unmoved, signals nodded, and a lamp winked to the guard.
so secretly, like wrongs hushed up they went
they were not ours:
we never heard to which front these were sent;
nor there if they yet mock what women meant
who gave them flowers.
shall they return to beating of great bells
in wild train loads?
a few, a few, too few fordrums and yells
may creep back, silent, to village wells
up half known roads.

so any one can give me tips on the stucture of the speech etc thanks :)

wait, im confused...what do you mean "this is my speech" - that's just one of the poems isn't it?
in addition to kimmeh's list of things to consider, remember that you also need to consider your target audience of "year 12 students" - there needs to be some sort of acknowledgement in your presentation style that you are talking to people your own age who are studying this text rather than presenting an academic report
