Hello, recently all my music files started playing strange. They play with crackling noises ect. I tryed opening diffrent files, but they all do it. I also tryed using diffrent programs (SonicStage, Windows Media Player, WINAMP, RealOne, iTunes) but it doesnt make a differance. Could somebody please tell my why it is doing this, and how to fix it. Thankyou

This may be a redundant question, but are your speakers plugged in properly? The plugs at the back may have come loose.

Alternatively, if your speakers are old, they may be shot.

How old is your computer (more specifically sound card), and your speakers?

yeah what he ^ said...usually, files have exceleent integrity and its not likely that they all went bust at the same time...

Well if he's a Kazaa user, the solution is to delete the file and refind it elsewhere.

How do you have your master levels up? Ideally you should have the main windows volume (the one you find in the system tray usually) reasonably low and use your speakers to adjust for the right sound level. Having the sound card maxed out and the speakers low over time will damage your speakers.

I suggest you use WinMX over Kazaa; its just alot better and safer.

What motherboard do you have

Because from experience i know the Asus A7N8X-X has a problem with audio drivers and installing the ones from the cd causes static to come through.

Hm..

Try ripping the audio cd that you own back onto the computer, using a decent program for ripping (not windows media player). The files you have now may be corrupted.

Its Kazaa. About halfway through the song does it go all crackly like a record being scratched?

The music companies spent a shit load of money on all these file sharing networks that make fake users on Kazaa and share these corrupt files.

Could be your sound codecs are stuffed, or your sound card is. You could try reinstalling your Windows Audio codecs, or maybe upgrading your sound card if it's really old.

How old is your computer? Or, more specifically, your sound card?

Do you still have any of the Install CDs that came with the PC?

I bought the computer in Feb this year, so its 8 months old. Im assuming the sound card is also 8 months old, because it is the one that came with the laptop, and i have not repalced it or updated it. The computer didn't come with any install Cd's. You had to make your own backup copy, in case it crashed, but i dont know whats on waht CD because they are for a full reinstallation. If that makes sense.
