hey everyone
I'm doing a collection assignment at school for additional imaginative journey texts and I wonder if any of you guys could help me identify how these texts represent journeys and what techniques are used to do so.

film-The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lava Girl
novel-The lion, the witch and the wardrobe
lyrics-Yellow Submarine

Also, if you could please help me generally with what techniques are used in films, print texts, visual texts and picture books etc. , I would appreciate that a lot.

Thanks heaps for any help ppl

:)

look for- what does the text say about imag. journeys?

cant help you specifically with your texts, but things like
-what do imag. journeys involve? does your text support that they're long, difficult, perhaps shared by other ppl, maybe they resemble reality, or are more like fantasy etc etc
- what do imag. journeys lead to? do they teach the person anything?

as for techniques
look out for symbolism, there's generally a lot of that in fiction texts.
films...watch out for the music both diagetic non diagetic...the scene the characters are in - their background, surroundings etc
look at camera angles, lighting, camera movements....

how do these things help convey the msg on imaginative journeys?

novels - obvious language techniques - metaphors/similes etc
symbolism,
what tense is used? past? present? look at the structure of the text

also look into the context of texts. that always sounds intelligent :p how does the background affect the text?

hope that helps =)
