Help with Essay: Frontline (1 Viewer)

Hey everyone I have a assessment task in about 2 weeks on Frontline and I want some help with the question I have got. Any ideas, tips, would be highly appreciated

Here goes:

"Imagine you are an HSC English Teacher. You have been asked to write a letter to the Board of Studies in support of retaining Module C: Representations and Text, for the next three years on the HSC Syllabus.

In your letter, you must discuss your specific electrive, Telling the Truth, persuading the Board of Studies of the importants of such a course of study.

You must refer closely to your prescribed text and at least TWO other texts of your own choosing, highlighting the way in which composers represent their ideas.

The prescribed texts are:

Media: - Rob Stich et all., Frontline
- The Siege
- We Ain't Got Dames
- Playing the Ego Card
- Add Sex and Stir
- Smaller Fish to Fry
- The Night of Nights

the letter is such an unrealistic situation, like no one would introduce realted material in a letter approving FRONTLINE'S worth so dont worry too much about sounding corny or lame when u introduce the related material..

also, look at old assessment tasks ie the ones u have done to see what the english dept look for... cos that varies across the state lol bloody english!

yeah it is a really unrealistic situation but such a typical english assessment format.. just talk about how the selected episodes of FRONTLINE distort the truth and the ways that the truth contrasts between what is represented and what the actual truth behind the matter is that we as an audience get to see behind the scenes. for related material you could use old articles about the children overboard incident or theres a program on the abc...im not sure when its on but its called media watch, and it goes into all this detail about the various commercial networks and how they distort the truth. like a couple of weeks ago they did a thing on how channel 9 is paying off one of the families of the bali 9 and talk about how this influences the representation of the truth..ok im reading over this and it dosent sound right but oh well hope u can make sense of it and it helps.

i ended up gettin 13/15 for it, so if anyone needs to use it in the future
