How do you know if you are cut out for Advanced English? I'm trying really hard and I'm not sure if I can get a good mark at the end of it all.

I got 63% and 68% in the last 2 exams/tests/essays (watever), and I wanna know... is this a OK mark? I know it is still reasonably early in the course (i'm in yr 11), but I DON'T want to drop down.

Any advice?

What is your class average ?
Let's say the average mark in Standard English is 55%, and the average mark in English Advanced is 80% and you get 68% In English Advanced.

The most viable option IS to drop down OR get your act together, because the English Advanced kids generally score better marks than that.

depends what you define OK as. they aren't bad but they arent fantastic. in any case it's way too early to drop out of it now. see how you feel about it at the end of the year, and in the meantime talk to your teachers, talk to your friends, try and get as much help as you can get.

Whenever I get back a piece of assessment we bug the teacher non stop for

a) average
b) Standard Deviation... or as we call it the Z score, which shows us argh its hard to understand... but positive is good, negative is bad

Okay say thing is at my school the average English mark is 72, it will ALWAYS be 72, like if the average is different then they moderate it to make it 72.

But the thing is english is scaled really well at my school and the average UAI is usually about 87... so being "average" isn't that bad.

Only someone at your school could tell you if that's a good mark, if you're not sure then visit your teacher and ask about it. Its also important to look at what you are aiming for so the teacher can tell you if you're on your way to achieving those goals or not.

Ask your teacher. That's seriously the best way to know. If it wasn't your best work then submit an example of your best to your teach, get them to mark it and see how you go.

I am doing better now, got 85% in the last assessment and am well on the way for another good mark in this one.
