Hey guys,

Today i got 2 exam results back:

I got 50% for an english exam cause i did my speech wrong believe it or not.
Though im really worried about this, and im wondering if this will affect the chances of me getting 85%+ UAI. (That english test was for rankings, now im one of the last ranked at school).

Depends how much the english exam was worth
If it's 15% or under (which it should be), you can catch up and definitely get that 85+

N.B. UAI is a rank, not a mark/percentage

Everyone blows at least one exam in the HSC. Luckily yours came early in the year when percentages are low and gross mistakes become negligable. Earlier in the year people make very big deals about the 10% tasks, but the feeling of needing to do very well wears off when the trials come around - the paradox is these are the really important ones. My point is this, don't make it a big deal, you'll do better in the next ones.

Ahh yeah, thanks alot guys

tho yeah, 50% is horrible, it makes me feel like i stuffed up my HSC.

tho im going tutoring now, and im gonna attempt to ace the rest of the year.

p.s is there ANYWAY at all, that i could get extra marks by talkign to the teachers, saying i did the question wrong, and show them my workbooks to show them the amount of work i did in class. etc.

No...I doubt it. It's you're fault that you answered the question wrong - the point of the exam is to test if you understand the question and see how well you can answer it. I don't think your teachers will be very sympathetic, sorry.

I think they would be sympathetic, but you cant win any mark in the HSC through arguing that you tried hard, everyone must be marked based on how well they fulfill the criteria of the tasks; otherwise it would be unfair. It would probebly just be an orkward conversation and perhaps a bit embarrasing.

I wouldn't try it. Instead, just count your losses and much better in the tests to come. I got 6/20 in one essay and then got 20/20 in my trial for that module. I finished the year in the top 10 (at a fairly decent school).

Dont become too anxious over this, the HSC is half a psychological game. Being able to work well without becoming anxious is half is a large part of the HSC.
