Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right thread but here's my dilemma:

I want to pursue a career in the computing/IT industry and thus really want to study Software Engineering at UNSW. However i am reevaluating that decision because my 3U maths results are mediocre (~70%) and I am really struggling in some topics such as Permutations & Combinations which also happen to be part of one of the UNSW Engineering core subjects (MATH2859 Prob, Stats and Information). I do not not know how I'm going to cope with 5 engineering maths subjects in uni when I cannot even withstand high school maths!

My question is, should I continue to pursue this dream (studying UNSW Software Engineering) or should I resort to UNSW Computer Science (3 yr degree) instead which is not so maths-heavy based? If so, is this Computer Science degree not as well regarded as the Software Engineering one?

All opinions are welcome!
Thanks

70% is pretty good, don't worry about uni subjects yet, your aim should be to get the best ATAR and then worry. People have gotten into UNSW engineering with general maths. The hard thing is getting into uni in the first place, get the ATAR however you can, and then there will be lots of help available at uni through tutors, lecturers, friends etc.
