I got a mark deducted off my phys test cos I had to find the slope of a line of best fit and I didn't use points that were separated enough? it was legit a straight linear line and gradient is constant so I dont understand how using points with a smaller range vs a larger range is necessary, especially when the slope was js used to find another variable. is this not too harsh?

yeah its pretty harsh and i hate it but
a larger range generally provides more accurate results so is somewhat better, and its better to use points without extrapolation clearly on the line of best fit but not a plotted data point - so if you want to be safe do everything perfect because you never know if the physics teachers are in a bad mood
