Hey, so I'm studying Levertov's poems as a prescribed text for History and Memory. My question is, as it is a selection of poems that is our prescribed text, how many are we expected to analyse in depth in our essay? In my generic essay I have analysed 4 in depth plus a related text, but I'm way over the word limit (~1700 Words).
Is it enough to have two poems analysed in depth (maybe one for each thesis argument), plus your related texts, and perhaps just make mention of a few of the other poems?
For example, "in (Poem A) Levertov uses (technique + quote), which is similarly used in (Poem B) for the same effect."
If not, please help. I have analysed all the poems, and I understand we need to know all of them in depth in case they specify one,but in a single essay what is the best way to approach the poems?
Thanks guys!
