Hey everyone,

I am doing History and Memory and am having difficulty on finding past exam responses which are in the band 5/6 range. The prescribed text I am doing is Life is beautiful for this section. Can anyone tell me where I can find some essays? This website doesn't have any. I really need some thanks! ;)

as far as i have seen, there were no Band 5/6 responses for history and memory. Kinda worrying don't you think? prolly everyone ran out of time or wrote crap.... i read the marking notes from the HSC markers from the bos and they said most of them concentrated too much on the Holocaust... bla bla blah...

I'm doing 50th gate... too bad the answers this year wouldn't make much sense next year though.....

Is that commenting on choice of related texts?? coz if it is... grrr what's wrong with concentrating too much on the holocaust? all my related texts have to do with the holocaust!!!

or are they saying that people talked about the holocaust too much, rather than HOW the relationship between hist + mem is shown in texts?

eep *confused*

no, i think the markers meant that they talked more about the events than the techniques of the book etc....

actually i'm VERY confused about related texts..... my teacher told us to pick related texts for this module, just like we did for the area of studies :(

I'm studying the 50th gate as well, and my related texts are a french movie called "au revoir les enfants" which is basically the director's sort of personal story... and a poem by paul celan (translated to english)

just find something, like a movie, or short story or something, that is about an historical event, but its someones personal story, rather than something that claims to be objective, like a textbook. that way you can just crap on about how contemporary representations using memory are better cause we've all had enough of the sterile facts and by having emotions represented (in memory) we're able to understand history better.. blah blah somehow make up some bs and link it to the 50th gate. ok now im just waffling
