hey im doin advanced english and were doing the comparison of two texts module. for our texts were doin the great gatsby and american beauty and i was wonderin if n e 1 could hlp me plz i hv an assesment on monday and it would be much appreciated

I'm starting Comparative Study of Texts too, except with Pride and Prejudice/Bridget Jones' Diary, so probably won't be able to help (not that I'm great at English anyway ). But maybe write out what are you supposed to do first? Those Eng geniuses out there could help

hmmm yeah we did pleasantville and Utopia but i could sorta give you some basics cos my teacher LOVES compare and contrast ...honestly that man...*strangles and stabs him* anyway!

- look for similar themes and concepts with both texts
- look at differing themes and concepts
- integrate context into either a separate para ( make it short) or work it into your arguments

you could set it out by discussing one text in detail with themes concepts context and language features/film techniques and then linking it by discussing the other text the same way
you could also simply go from one paragraph to the other by syntheising using key themes etc.
make sure it all flows and makes sense.
omg am i making sense? sorry if its a bit blah but i dont have any notes in front of me.. just off the top of my head, so if anyone else can elaborate on what i've said then yeah go for it.
