Yes pirates are still ripping off movies but so is hollywood. I am making a website for a school assignment and i need a list of Hollywood Remakes (or rip-offs as I like to call them). Rip-offs such as the Japanese "The Ring" which was remade by Hollywood starring Naomi Watts. And the Spanish "Open Your Eyes" which was remade into "Vanilla Sky" starring Tom Cruise. I need you people to give me a list of films which Hollywood has remade (I specifically need more asian movies, Hong Kong's "Infernal Affairs" is going to be remade by Brad Pitt). Thankz. Oh yeh I have nothing against Hollywood so don't be pissed off.

the hong kong flick 'infernal affair' is being remade, possibly by scorsese, starring brad pitt and probably colin farell. i swear colin farell is in 1 out of every 4 films these days...

other american remakes include: 'the assassin' or 'point of no return' in the US (which was 'nikita' from france)

the magnificent 7 was an "interpretation" (ie: basically a remake) of kurosawa's 'the 7 samurai'

swept away was remade into 'swept away' with madonna

insomnia was remade by christopher nolan (he is so f###ing orsm) into 'insomnia' with al pacino and robin williams

Godard's 'breathless' was remade under the same title with richard gere

these are just a few, there used to be more european films being remade but now seeing as everyone is into asian cinema they are beginning to lean towards that...
if i had $60 million i would remake 'full time killer'...that would be orsm

whaaaaat?!??! O__o;;

i must say though, the hollywood version of the ring was better than the original. the only better part of the japanese one was when sadako crawled out of the TV, that freaked me out completely, unlike the same scene in the hollywood one.

FROM LISTOLOGY:

Les Visiteurs (1993) remade as Just Visiting (2001)

Yin Shi Nan Nu (1994) (aka Eat Drink Man Woman) remade as
Tortilla Soup (2001)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In both cases the remakes were unbelievably bad... hollywood sux! Another one is "Fathers Day" it was a french movie first.. also "My Father the Hero" belonged to the french..
