I dont know much about laptops but i just bought one online without much research

dell inspiron 6400

120GB
1GB memory
dvd/cd burner
128mb videocard
1.6ghz

for $1460

is that a reasonable price or did i get ripped off?

That's a pretty good price. Infact if you ditched the 128MB video, you can often get the 1.6GHz T2200 Core Duo, 1GB, 80GB, DVD burner (approx. same setup).. for as low as $1,250 (Inspiron 6000).

Infact in the last promotion they had, those Dell numskulls forgot to drop a incorrectly placed bonus option (regarding a wireless router) on their Inspiron range. In other words, I could of grabbed myself a 15.4" Core Duo laptop for ~$1170. CHEAP!
