For e.g. transferring from Arts to Arts/Law (at Sydney if it makes a difference). Will I be starting the Law degree from the first year and start from the beginning or will I jump into the second year?

There's no real thing as "first year" "second year."

It's all about meeting the pre-reqs. So in short, you have to start from bottom for the law side of your degree.

It generally depends on how many relevant credit points you are transferred (e.g. core units) and if you meet the prerequisites for your preferred subjects immediate UoS then you may be able to transfer directly into 2nd year.

Thus, it would be advisable to pick as many law electives possible during your first year to maximise credits transferred.
