Does it matter? I think it has been said before that the quality of the universities med courses are all good. Shame they only offer 5 places to interstaters and this yr they are cutting the intake by half as the course is being shortened to 5 years. So that means 2.5 ppl can get in from the mainland ;)

Rubbish. Nobody on Ausmed ever said it was crap (nobody worth believing at least). UTas is actually the toughest school to get through. I was there this year when their third years were DECIMATED in mid year exams - 25 failed, and only 5 were offered sups. One of them was a very good friend of my cousin (MBBS III) and had to leave convention on the Tuesday night to prepare for his sup. He failed by a SINGLE mark.

As for how it looks, I can't say I know having never been there. The photos they sent me look really nice though, all sandstone and stuff.

Anyway, back on topic. UTas' current course, like the old course at UNSW, has an excellent reputation. They are the last school in which cadaveric dissection is a major part of the curriculum - whether this is retained in their new (2006) course is yet to be seen. Here's hoping they don't just directly port the Newcastle curriculum.

Woah really? Monash has cadaveric dissection every week? I was certain only UTas still shelled out THAT much for the stiffs...

As for the thread about UTas being crap, yes there one one thread. But every point raised by the poster was convincingly and immediately refuted. Like I said, nobody worth listening to. ;)
