actaully, u should nail your point in the first paragraph and therefore use about 3 or 4 examples to back this up.. techniques and examples are 2 differnt things. the techniques used to convey the jouney can be unlimited.. but the examples used must support what you write and therefore reinforce the statement and answer.

so 3 or 4 examples from each text is enough.

- show how it is an journey
- what the journey is
- how the journey is conveyed...

etc..

if u need help...

click on my link below as i tutor for eng.. and i will hopefully be able to help.

good luck! :D

I say as many as you need to get your point across....!
Thats pretty much right. You dont want to waft on too much and you dont want to be short of wafting. Different texts would need different amounts of explaining to prove that they show your focus journey. Pick the main and the most important one(s) for each text, but make sure theyre all different techniques so that there is a logical flow to your essay and it also proves to the markers that you can identify a range of techniques.
Also read the post above (very good points made there, i'll just elaborate on a bit)^ Make sure you address in each paragraph:
_what is being said (your focus journey)
_how is it being said (the techniques that support this concept of the jounrey)
_the value of it being said (what effect it has, why is it used this way..)
_the evidence of it being said (quotes)
