Hi Guys,

I was wandering, what things from the prelim will we be required to remember and use in the HSC for subjects Physics, Chemistry, and Business.

Nothing will be directly tested but prelim builds your foundations for the HSC topics.

Last years Physics exam asked a question directly from the year 11 syllabus, under the premise of assumed knowledge.

yeh, exactly "assumed knowledge" hence, if you dont have the foundations, how in the world do you expect to understand much more rigorous and challenging concepts in the hsc?

People usually bludge Prelims as the misconception is that it counts towards nothing BUT it counts towards your ever-increasing pool of knowledge. Marks arent important in Year 11, its about what and how much you can learn and keep in long-term memory.

lol at year 11 kiddies. You can still ace your HSC if you did bugger all in year 11. You don't need to keep your Physics and Chemistry notes from year 11 and at that Physics question from last year line of best fit for Voltage vs. Resistance graph is a skill so you don't need to know your content from year 11.

Our maths teacher, who is a HSC marker, explained to us that the preliminary builds the basis and necessary foundations for HSC work but within the HSC exam itself, 20% of the preliminary course can make up the final exam. Even though it rarely does. He said its usually about 3 or 4 questions of a Math HSC exam that would be of preliminary standard.

Hope thats a sufficient answer XD

That's true but only for Maths. (They can ask up to 30% of prelim)
The other subjects draw on knowledge from Prelim but they CAN NOT ask you a question directly from Prelim.
