With particular reference to the hardware used to collect data, explain how parcel tracking works. What are the benefits for a) consumers; b) transport companies; c) sellers? Ref: Australian Air Express Website

Thats the question i have to do, but i can't find it on the website. Does anyone else know about parcel tracking?

Ok, the basic idea is that the parcel carries a barcode, in a database. Everytime the parcel gets passed a critical point (maybe passed customs, onto a truck stop, onto a plane etc) the mail persons scan the barcode, updating the current location and information of the parcel, on the main database.

a) the consumer benifits, because they can see where the parcel is, and an ETA on delivery
b) The companies spend less time getting calss about the location of parcels, freeing up people for other work.
c) Sellers...Hmm no idea on this one

i put this for sellers 'can ensure they are not being double crossed if a consumer claims that it did not turn up'

Rightly so, especially on sites such as Ebay etc.
