How to calculate your GPA? (1 Viewer)

For e.g. according to the SU table http://sydney.edu.au/pharmacy/documents/future_students/GPA conversion SU table.pdf
A mark of 75-79 would equal to 6.5 GPA (if i'm reading it correctly that is)
However most forums on this website just state that a credit = 5, distinction = 6, high distinction = 7, etc.
Out of curiosity, which method do you think would be more accurate?

It differs between universities so there is no right or wrong in this sense unless you need a GPA for a transfer.
