Assuming that you are still attending a regular school and just want to substitute a subject you can apply through your school to a distance education such as Karabar Distance Education Centre to do subjects that your school is not offering provided it is given in lieu of one of your current subjects and that overall your year 11/12 units do not exceed 12 units including the distance ed. subject.

You apply by filling out a form you can find one by visiting the Karabar website.
Distance education requires the school to pay a "school contribution" however, dependent upon the school you may be forced to pay the money yourself. Costs are also significantly cheaper at government schools. e.g. 2 year school contribution (gov. school) is $100 and a 1 year school contribution (non-gov. school) is $800.

If you are going to do distance education i highly recommend Karabar as the teachers there teach in a real school as well as at the Distance Education centre meaning that they have more realistic expectations of you as a student.

As for how you do distance ed.
Mail will be sent out every week to your school and you are required to send back one package of work every week, this is called a Title Page. A title page is basically your goals or aims for this week.
The work is usually in worksheet style where you complete a booklet of work or, in some cases, the title pages list what sections of a textbook must be completed.

If you have anymore questions please feel free to pm me. In year 9 & 10 i did distance education in French and Ist and this year i will be beginning Business Studies and IPT by distance ed.

generally yes, however in many circumstances they will take people when the subjects does not fit in with their otehr subjects (e.g. the one you want to do co-incides with another on the timetable)
