try percentile to scaled mark because I think percentile might be the raw mark and the scaled mark will be based on subject scaling which will affect ur hsc mark. I think Hsc mark to scaled mark is how they calculate ur atar based on the scaling

does this mean a raw mark of 67.4 scales to an 83 or a raw mark of 83 scales to a 67.4?
this is english advanced, 2024, hsc mark to scaled mark
im pre sure the graph is saying that a hsc mark of 83 scales to a 67.4 -- the x axis is the hsc mark and the y axis is the scaled mark

but keep in mind that the hsc mark isnt ur raw mark, ur hsc mark is 50/50 of your internals and external marks after moderation and alignment

Thats so weird
The yellow line from the graph is arabic continuers n it says that a 76 scales to a 15.4 and a 99 scales to a 89.4 if we interpret it your way 😬

The x axis is the aligned final mark for the subject which you get back from NESA. Scaling actually refers to how well these subject contribute for your atar, for eg an 80 in PDHPE is not the same as an 80 in maths ext 2. The y axis is a scaled score which is taken by UAC to calculate your atar. Basically the higher the y value the better for your atar. If your really want to know how it works, your best scaled marks (y-axis) are added up to give an aggregate score, and then the aggregate is converted to your atar (I think there’s a graph on that website that compares aggregate score to atar for a specific year)

yeah thats crazy but i think it makes sense, if you check UAC's scaling database that aligns with what they've inputted

this might be a better way to check how the marks scale if the graphs r being weird

It means 83 HSC mark (after alignment) is equivalent to a scaled mark of 67.4/100 or 33.7/50 for 1 unit.
The plot represents an exact value given in the UAC report. This means the rest of the line is only an interpolation.

The scaled mark is a standardized score that is consistent across all subjects.
A 67.4/100 scaled mark in math is the same as a 67.4/100 scaled mark in english.

The scaled mark across 5 best subjects (10 units) is then added to produce an aggregate, which is out of 500.

Using this table and the hsc scaling graph, you can predict your atar with great accuracy

In theory, it is possible to score a 99.999 ATAR by getting a 500 out of 500 aggregate

Use this simple method to predict ur atar without online calcs:

if ur goal is 85, look at the table, do 500 - 340 = 160.
this means 160 aggregate marks you can safely lose. refer to hsc scaling graphs, subtract the aggregates u lost from 160
if ur final answer is above 0, ur safe
