I think I will fully die of boredom if I have to take notes on a textbook. I don't know how much the syllabus changed and when it did, so I'm kind of lost as for what to do if I want to study ahead. Should I watch youtube videos? Which ones? I didn't do Engineering in year 9 or 10, so I don't know if I'm screwed for choosing it this year.

Just search up the syllabus (most recent is 2011) and go off that, but tbh year 11 engineering is pretty easy anyway

If you are not familiar with the ES syllabus, then you should download it from the NSW Education website. It's free.
Engineering Studies has four focus areas: Scope of the Engineering Profession, Engineering Communication, History of Technology and Materials Science. In the preliminary course you have to learn about entry requirements to the profession. You should know what is the Institution of Engineers Australia (IEAust), about engineering ethics and why engineers work in multi-disciplinary teams. You learn the basics of engineering communication - report writing and drawing. You have to learn about the broad classification of engineering materials. You need to know some history of technology, what was the industrial revolution etc.

Engineering is easier and has more theory but theres specific topics that are pretty hard. Also some topics overlap in year 11 mainly like electricity and dynamics
